 “Enter our doors and embrace the future” is not just a motto at Greenburgh Eleven UFSD; it’s a guiding principle that shapes every aspect of our district.

Nestled in the serene grounds of Children’s Village, a venerable residential treatment center located 20 miles north of NYC in Dobbs Ferry, Greenburgh Eleven UFSD is a place where we build relationships one student at a time. We understand that every student who walks through our doors is unique, facing their own emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. It’s our mission to help each of them not only overcome these challenges but also prepare them for a future filled with opportunities.

At Greenburgh Eleven, we are committed to academic excellence and innovation. Our focus for the year ahead includes intensified literacy support and a heightened emphasis on STEM education. We believe in the power of hands-on learning opportunities, fostering curiosity and inspiring a love of learning. Our technology-enriched classrooms and diagnostic assessments enhance our ability to tailor our educational approach to each student’s individual learning style, providing them with the tools they need to thrive.

However, education is about more than just academics. It’s about holistic child development, and that’s at the core of our program. We recognize that a student’s emotional and mental well-being is just as important as their academic achievements. That is why we have a dedicated team of clinicians and therapists who work alongside our students, offering the support and guidance they need to grow and flourish.

Our commitment to the well-being of our students extends to our approach to discipline. We believe in Restorative Justice, a philosophy that promotes healthy relationships and community cohesion. This aligns perfectly with our participation in the PBIS behavior management program, which prepares our students not only for academic success but also for post-secondary education and successful careers. We want to instill in them the values of respect, responsibility, and resilience.

As the K-12 Principal for the Greenburgh Eleven U.F.S.D, we are excited to welcome students and families back to school and extend greetings to those who may be interested in joining us as well. Greenburgh Eleven is a day and residential school with a student-teacher ratio of 8:1:1. Each class has a certified classroom teacher and TA.  The School provides a comprehensive educational program in accordance with the Regulations of the New York State Education Department.  Instruction is based on New York State Standards and on students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP).  The school year is extended to include a thirty-day summer program for all students.  Students are prepared to become critical thinkers as well as self-confident, respectful, responsible, independent learners and citizens.

A specially trained and certified instructional staff employs a multitude of strategies and materials to teach students. Special subjects, such as art, music, physical education, health, Spanish and technology are part of the program.  This program allows teachers to meet the students’ academic, social and emotional needs. Families are an integral part of the school.  Parents are invited to visit the school whenever they wish to meet with teachers, administrators and to observe their children in class.

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a key part of our approach to behavior management, promoting a shared understanding of Respect, Responsibility, and Safety throughout the school. In addition, we are committed to a restorative justice model that fosters a positive school climate and supports discipline, teaching, and relationship-building. Restorative justice emphasizes a community-oriented approach where all stakeholders collaborate to find solutions, replacing traditional punishment practices. We also celebrate and reward our students—many of whom face academic and social-emotional challenges—for demonstrating positive character traits throughout the school day.

Students are provided with a quality education where diversity, creativity, mutual respect and self-esteem are emphasized and cultivated.  A collaborative partnership exists among students, educators, parents, and the community.  Successes are measured not only by students’ test scores but by who they become and the real life experience they gain at Greenburgh Eleven.
